Disturbia

Disturbia project was born in 2017 when Melnikova started to discover the Dark Room photography. Kira’s aim is to let viewers feel the mood and discover for themselves the main concept. She believes that for every viewer it will be a different meaning.

The process for Disturbia differs from the previous project. Melnikova starts to work with photographs at the beginning. The reason for that is to find wanted angles and poses of a face or a silhouette. Then, she transfers a photo to a photogram in the darkroom. It helps to reach the contrast, translucent shapes, lines, and figures. Her final step is the direct painting that allows her to adjust some details whether she feels like adding or getting rid of some elements. The final outcome is never the same as the photography due to the mood and medium change.
